The Role: Lifeguard (Seasonal)This is a seasonal position, supporting peak operational periods at the resort.
We offer flexible working arrangements, with opportunities ranging from part-time to full-time hours, depending on availability and operational requirements.
The Lifeguard Team is responsible for delivering our lifeguard operations and plays a critical role in creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming, and positive environment. Through professionalism and vigilance, lifeguards enable visitors to engage with surfing and water sports confidently and safely.
Role Overview· Delivering the day-to-day lifeguarding operation at Lost Shore Surf Resort (LSSR), Edinburgh.
· Working as a member of the Lifeguard Team to ensure safe and effective surf operations.
· Delivering a world-class visitor experience within Surf Operations, ensuring all activities are safe, hygienic, and legally compliant.
· Reporting to the Surf Operations Manager and working closely with the Head Lifeguard and Head Coach.
Key Responsibilities Visitor ExperienceCollaborating with the Head Lifeguard and Head Coach to understand visitor needs and consistently exceed expectations. Supporting the delivery of a high-quality surf experience while ensuring operations remain safe and efficient.
Working as a TeamWorking closely with the Head Coach and Head Lifeguard to foster a positive team environment, maintain effective communication, address challenges promptly, and adhere to all People Policies and Procedures.
Ways of WorkingEnsuring strict adherence to LSSR Health & Safety policies, supporting compliance with all relevant licences and permits, contributing to a strong safety culture within Surf Operations, responding appropriately to incidents, and maintaining accurate incident records.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience· Thrives under pressure, demonstrating high energy and a strong drive for excellence.
· Prioritises customer satisfaction and delivers consistently high standards of service.
· Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
· Exhibits excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management.
· An interest in surfing, or a willingness to learn.
· Holds a recognised Lifeguard qualification (SLSGB or RLSS Beach Lifeguard qualification preferred).
· Able to successfully complete PVG certification through Disclosure Scotland
Contract & HoursThis is a seasonal role with flexible hours available. Opportunities range from part-time to full-time positions, subject to operational needs and individual availability.
The resort operates seven days a week. Early mornings, evenings, and weekend work will be required, particularly during peak periods.
Due to the nature of the role and operational demand, positions are limited.
