Description

The Role:

The Human Resources Manager will oversee all Human Resources activity for SUSHISAMBA restaurants locations in North America, specifically SUSHISAMBA Los Angeles and SUSISAMBA Las Vegas. The Human Resources Manager will maintain and enhance the organization's HR’s initiatives by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations, training and development, policies, programs, and practices.

The position will be based onsite at SUSHISAMBA Los Angeles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a liaison between management and employees to assist in handling all HR related practices
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to the operational teams and the human resources department to further their professional development and to support the goals of the HR department and SUSHISAMBA Group.
  • Actively lead and promote recruitment activity, including updating job descriptions, scheduling and attending interviews and recruiting in line with local and federal laws.
  • Maintain employee benefits programs and inform employees of benefits; remain informed of benefit trends and requirements, and offer recommendations to management
  • Deliver compensation and benefit comparison reports to the executive team and make recommendations to improve the company’s current offerings
  • Oversee, review and support the payroll process for accuracy and compliance
  • Assist the training and development team with recommendations for training programs for salaried and hourly staff.
  • Spearhead the annual performance review process, and identify methods for improvement
  • Provide counsel and guidance to managers and associates regarding company policies and procedures, performance standards and performance management to foster a high-performance culture
  • Persuade and influence decision makers and demonstrate knowledge of policy interpretation as well as HR strategies
  • Oversee end to end Employee Relations in line with company standards, local and federal laws
  • Provide employee relations consultation and guidance. Conduct internal investigations and prepare all required documentation
  • Act as liaison between the company and outside legal and professional resources to ensure that all employment policies follow current laws and regulations
  • Offer new methods to measure employee morale and determine methods for improving overall employee satisfaction
  • Have full understanding and working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Ensure all Human Resources activities are conducted in line with company standards, and local and federal laws
  • Support the opening of new restaurant locations in North America, including but not limited to compliance, systems, payroll, training and recruitment.
  • Any additional ad hod duties as reasonably requested.

The Human Resources Manager should demonstrate competence in the following areas:

  • Make Decisions: Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization
  • Organize: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details/data/information/activities
  • Plan: Determine strategies to move the organization forward, set goals, create and implement actions plans, and evaluate the process and results

Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience managing in a HR Generalist capacity.
  • Knowledge of assisting in developing, implementing and administering benefit programs, processes and policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution, mediation facilitation, and the dynamics of problem-solving and negotiation.
  • Experience implementing Progressive Discipline and Performance Management systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal employment and labor laws, FMLA, ADA, and current employee and labor relations practices.
  • Self-motivated, able to take initiative and use sound judgment in day-to-day decision making

Professional Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources Management
  • Knowledge of HR policies/procedures and best practices
  • Knowledge of federal, and state employment law
  • Previous experience in the food industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proficient with Microsoft office software; and possess solid general computer, math and analysis skills
