Assistant Spa Manager | Watergate Bay Hotel – Swim Club

We’re here to share the joy of Watergate Bay for everyone, now and for the future.

That means doing everything we can to make sure our team, guests and planet stay happy through the moments we create and the impact we have.

Through proper hospitality, active relaxation and thoughtful experiences, we create the time and space for guests and teams to feel their best. Everything we do is rooted in warmth, confidence and care — with sustainability and community firmly at our heart.

Our Assistant Spa Manager role

We’re looking for an Assistant Spa Manager to join our Swim Club team.

You’ll support our Spa Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Swim Club, working to deliver exceptional treatments using our sustainably sourced, natural and ethical products, whilst creating a warm and attentive experience for every guest.

You’ll also step up in our Spa Manager’s absence, helping to support, lead, and inspire our team of talented Therapists and Café Bar Assistants, acting as an advocate for our Watergate Bay Hotel brand.

This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week, with a range of team benefits aligned with our work-life balance and active relaxation ethos.

Our Swim Club brings this philosophy to life, offering sustainably sourced, natural, and ethical products within an environment built on connection, creativity, and care.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the Swim Club, helping to maintain a calm, well-organised and welcoming environment.
  • Welcoming and engaging with guests in a warm, friendly and professional manner.
  • Leading by example and supporting team to consistently deliver our Swim Club standards.
  • Delivering treatments, hosting, and conducting our Café Bar service when required.
  • Always ensuring an exceptional guest experience, reflecting our brand values and striving to exceed expectations.
  • Ensuring all facilities meet the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation and safety.
  • Supporting our revenue targets across treatments, products and food and beverage through thoughtful, confident sales.

 You’ll also

  • Maintain a strong knowledge of treatments, service standards and Swim Club operations
  • Support training, inductions and ongoing development for the Swim Club team
  • Manage rotas via Harri and support day to day admin including stock, timesheets and scheduling
  • Handle guest feedback, enquiries and complaints with care and professionalism
  • Approve timesheets and absence requests accurately and in a timely way
  • Support Café Bar and treatment stock management, including specialty items
  • Work closely with HR on recruitment, onboarding and training for new team members
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety, hygiene and fire regulations, maintaining accurate records and a safe environment
  • Attend relevant training as required, including health and safety
  • Share and collate departmental feedback to support ongoing improvement and communication
  • Help foster a positive, open and supportive team culture built on clarity and continuous improvement

We offer a wide range of beauty treatments, from manicures to facials, with a maximum of 4 hours allocated for massage treatments per day.

What we’re looking for

  • Trustworthy and thoughtful, with a natural eye for detail
  • A warm and confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, enthusiastic and approachable manner
  • Outstanding customer care and a genuine focus on guest experience, with a strong understanding of customer care and effective complaint handling
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion at all times
  • Reliable and punctual, with a high standard of personal presentation and care
  • Previous experience working within a spa environment and/or within a hospitality or guest-facing environment
  • NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy or an equivalent qualification such as BTEC or ITEC Level 3
  • Supervisory or management experience within a similar setting
  • Previous experience of managing a large team (preferred)
  • Additional qualifications in hot stone massage, reflexology, pregnancy massage, oncology massage or other holistic therapies are desirable but not essential
