Description

Head of Cultural Programming

Full time | On-site

The Arts Club - A stage for ideas, culture and conversation.

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Cultural Programming to curate and deliver a compelling programme of talks, debates, performances, private views, exhibition tours, international trips and member experiences for one of London’s most established private members’ clubs. Based in the heart of Mayfair, this is a rare opportunity for a culturally fluent, well-connected and highly organised programming professional to shape experiences for a discerning membership with broad interests across the arts, literature, science, politics, technology, healthcare, the environment and current affairs.

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director - Marketing and Communications, Cultural Programming and Membership, you will lead the Club’s cultural programming strategy and oversee the successful delivery of a distinctive, high-quality annual events calendar. You will combine creative judgement with commercial discipline, bringing together influential speakers, artists, institutions, brands and thought leaders to create experiences that feel relevant, original and unmistakably aligned with The Arts Club’s heritage and standards.

You will manage a Cultural Programming Executive and work closely with Marketing, Private Events, Membership, Operations and the wider Club team to ensure each event is thoughtfully conceived, professionally promoted and seamlessly delivered.

What You Will Do

  • Design and deliver a varied cultural programme spanning arts, literature, science, technology, politics, healthcare, the environment and current affairs.
  • Curate high-quality talks, debates, panel discussions, performances, tours, trips and exclusive member experiences that appeal to a wide range of member interests.
  • Identify, approach and secure outstanding speakers, artists, performers, cultural institutions, brands and thought leaders while managing costs carefully.
  • Build and nurture relationships with members, partners, suppliers, museums, galleries and cultural organisations to strengthen the Club’s network and reputation.
  • Oversee event delivery from concept through to execution, ensuring every detail reflects the Club’s standards of discretion, service and excellence.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to promote the programme through member newsletters, social media, digital content and Club communications.
  • Monitor event performance, attendance, member engagement and return on investment, using insight to refine future programming.
  • Lead, support and develop a Cultural Programming Executive, ensuring clear priorities, thoughtful delegation and high standards of delivery.

About You

You will be a creative, curious and commercially minded cultural programme leader with the confidence to operate in a luxury, member-focused environment. You will bring excellent judgement, strong networks and the ability to translate contemporary ideas into memorable live experiences.

  • Proven experience in cultural programming, event curation or a related role within luxury hospitality, the arts, cultural institutions or private members’ clubs.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary cultural, social and global topics, with the ability to identify ideas that will resonate with a sophisticated audience.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrable experience managing multiple projects, budgets and suppliers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confidence building relationships with senior contributors, creative talent, institutional partners and discerning members.
  • A meticulous eye for detail and a calm, professional approach to event delivery.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, mentor and set a strong example for junior team members.
