The Arts Club Dubai is perfectly located in the heart of the DIFC, set over four floors and totaling 65,000 square feet, in the brand-new ICD Brookfield Place development designed by Foster + Partners.

It is the first international outpost of the celebrated and historical private members’ club, established in 1863 in Mayfair, London. We are seeking an exceptional Sous Chef to join us at The Arts Club Dubai.

As we embark on an exciting relaunch of our venue, we are looking for a talented chef with extensive experience in Classic Italian cuisine, enhanced with a modern twist.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

As a Sous Chef, you play a pivotal role in the kitchen team, ensuring smooth operations and high standards of culinary excellence. Your duties include:

  • Supervising and leading the kitchen team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Mentoring junior chefs and kitchen team, providing training to enhance their skills and ensure consistency in food quality.
  • Organising team schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently during all shifts.
  • Overseeing food preparation and presentation to ensure dishes meet the restaurant’s standards.
  • Acting as a liaison between the head chef and kitchen team, ensuring clear communication of instructions and feedback.
  • Addressing any issues or conflicts that arise within the team, ensuring a harmonious work environment.
  • Ensuring all team members adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen.
  • Collaborating with the head chef in menu development and adjustments, incorporating feedback from the team.
  • Assisting in ordering and managing inventory, ensuring the kitchen is well-stocked with fresh and seasonal ingredients.
  • Monitoring and evaluating team performance, providing constructive feedback, and implementing improvement plans when necessary.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role, with a focus on Italian cuisine. Proven experience in high-volume kitchens is preferred.
  • Degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field is preferred but not required if the candidate has substantial professional experience.
  • Deep understanding of Italian culinary traditions, techniques, and ingredients. Ability to create authentic Italian dishes with high-quality ingredients.
  • Ability to contribute innovative ideas for menu development and presentation.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keen eye for detail, ensuring precision in cooking and presentation.
  • Genuine passion for Italian cuisine and a dedication to culinary excellence.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Familiarity with kitchen management software and modern cooking equipment.
