Set in the picturesque Chess Valley, The Bricklayers Arms is a Grade II listed, 18th-century gastropub renowned for its charm and culinary excellence. With its ivy-clad exterior, rustic low-beamed ceilings, and roaring log fires, the pub offers a quintessentially English countryside experience.
Celebrated for its award-winning cuisine, the AA rosette pub has been honoured multiple times as Hertfordshire’s "County Dining Pub of the Year" by The Good Pub Guide. Under the leadership of the Head Chef, the kitchen crafts seasonal dishes that blend traditional British flavours with modern flair, complemented by an extensive wine list and a selection of fine ales.

The job in a nutshell
Assist with the preparation and cooking of menu items under the guidance of senior chefs
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food hygiene
Learn how to manage ingredients, prep, plating, and kitchen safety
Support the team during busy service times and contribute to a positive kitchen environment
Take every opportunity to grow your skills and confidence
A genuine interest in food and cooking
A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
Ability to take instruction and work calmly under pressure
Previous kitchen experience is helpful but not essential – full training provided
