About us

We're looking for a hard-working, positive Kitchen Porter who takes pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. If you enjoy being part of a busy team, thrive under pressure, and want to build a career in professional kitchens, this role is for you.

Tucked away by the canal at Bulbourne, just outside Tring, the Grand Junction Arms is a destination for those who love proper pubs. With vast gardens, outdoor bars and plenty of space to enjoy long summer days by the water, the Grand Junction is made for big gatherings and lazy afternoons. Inside, you'll find a buzzing pub atmosphere and a kitchen that serves fresh, seasonal menus built around traditional pub favourites, elevated with local produce and contemporary touches. Every dish is cooked to order — and behind every great plate is a team that keeps the kitchen running like clockwork.

This is your chance to join a growing independent pub group, be part of a supportive kitchen team, and develop your career in hospitality from the ground up.

What's in it for you

  • Pay: £12.71/hr
  • Perks: 50% off food & 20% off drinks across the group, 28 days holiday, team socials and staff events
  • Training: E-learning with AllGravy, hands-on development through Trail App and FoodAlert
  • Career path: Clear progression into commis and kitchen team roles for those who want it
  • Fun: A lively, supportive workplace with a team that looks out for each other

What you'll be doing

  • Keeping the kitchen and all surrounding areas clean, organised and safe at all times
  • Washing up and ensuring crockery, glassware and equipment are always ready for service
  • Supporting basic food preparation tasks as directed by the kitchen team
  • Emptying bins, mopping floors, and cleaning grills, ovens and surfaces throughout the shift
  • Unloading and storing deliveries correctly
  • Supporting the wider kitchen team with daily duties during service

What we're looking for

  • A strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and works well under pressure
  • Organised, reliable and honest — the kitchen depends on you
  • A genuine team player who takes pride in their contribution
  • Willingness to learn and a desire to develop and progress
  • No experience necessary — we'll train the right person

This is your chance to get your foot in the door of a brilliant kitchen team and build your hospitality career with a small but ambitious independent pub group.

Apply today and join the team.
