About The Groucho Club

Founded in 1985, The Groucho Club is one of London’s most renowned private members’ clubs, bringing together individuals from the creative industries including film, media, arts, publishing, and music.

Located in Soho, the Club provides bars, restaurants, event spaces, and bedrooms exclusively for members and their guests. Discretion, individuality and a relaxed yet professional atmosphere sit at the heart of everything we do.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will:

• Hold strategic and operational responsibility for the Safety & Security function across the Club.
• Lead and manage a 24/7 operation, ensuring appropriate coverage for members’ areas, events, and late-night trading.
• Provide visible and credible leadership across the business, representing the department at senior management level.
• Ensure all policies, compliance documentation, training records and operational procedures remain accurate and audit-ready.
• Lead Health & Safety and Fire Safety compliance activity, including risk assessments, drills, inspections and statutory reporting.
• Oversee the Club’s Fire Risk Assessment, Crisis Management Plan, Security Policies and departmental risk assessments, ensuring regular review and continuous improvement.
• Act as the primary liaison for external agencies including the Metropolitan Police, licensing authorities, the Fire Brigade and insurers.
• Ensure safety, security and discretion standards are upheld during high-profile events and VIP attendance.
