About The Groucho Club

Founded in 1985, The Groucho Club is one of London’s most renowned private members’ clubs, bringing together individuals from the creative industries including film, media, arts, publishing, and music.

Located in Soho, the Club provides bars, restaurants, event spaces, and bedrooms exclusively for members and their guests. Discretion, individuality and a relaxed yet professional atmosphere sit at the heart of everything we do.

Security Officer

We are looking for a professional and personable Security Officer with presence, vigilance, and a natural ability to create a calm, welcoming environment. This is a role for someone who understands that great security is not just about protection, but about enhancing the overall member experience with confidence, discretion, and approachability.

As a Security Officer, you play a key role in maintaining the safety, reputation, and atmosphere of the Club. With strong awareness and sound judgement, you balance security excellence with genuine hospitality, ensuring members and staff feel both safe and at ease.

At the Groucho Club, every interaction matters. From first impressions at the door to handling sensitive situations with care, you help shape an experience that is secure, seamless, and welcoming.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintaining the security, safety, and wellbeing of both members and employees at all times.
  • Patrolling and safeguarding the premises while protecting the reputation and integrity of the Club.
  • Acting as a visible and approachable presence, contributing positively to the member experience.
  • Delivering attentive, professional, and friendly service in every interaction.
  • Responding promptly and effectively to security incidents, documenting and reporting with accuracy and discretion.
  • Supporting daily briefings and actively participating in team communication to stay aligned and informed.
  • Exercising sound judgement in sensitive situations, including supporting colleagues with guest behaviour or intoxication concerns.
  • Monitoring CCTV systems and maintaining vigilance across all areas of the Club.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider team to ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable service environment.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Previous experience in a security role within a fast-paced or hospitality environment.
  • A confident, calm, and approachable personality that puts others at ease.
  • A valid SIA Security Guard licence.
  • Strong understanding of security procedures, risk awareness, and incident handling.
  • Composed under pressure, with the ability to remain professional in challenging or unexpected situations.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A service-led mindset, recognising that security plays a key role in the overall guest experience.
  • Socially confident, able to interact effectively across a diverse and dynamic membership.
  • Highly observant and proactive, with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a busy environment.
  • Adaptable and dependable, bringing a positive, solution-focused attitude to every shift.

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Competitive salary of £16–£17 per hour inclusive of tronc.
  • Up to 28 days paid holiday per year.
  • Life Insurance and Health Cash Plan.
  • Daily staff meals prepared by our kitchen team.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Refer a Friend Scheme – earn up to £500.
  • And all the extras we love—staff parties, tastings, and the opportunity to work alongside London’s most creative and inspiring members.
