About The Langham Blue Bell

Tucked at the heart of a cluster of flinty cottages in a village not far from the sea, The Langham Blue Bell is a true Norfolk gem. Under its terracotta roof, stories of local life have been shared for generations. It’s a place where regulars feel at home, visitors feel welcomed, and the sense of community is unmistakable.

Just around the corner sits our sister property, **The Harper**, an award‑winning Michelin Key hotel known for its elevated yet relaxed approach to hospitality. Together, the two create a unique culinary and guest experience rooted in quality, warmth, and authenticity.

The Blue Bell has earned a loyal following for its exceptional food and atmosphere. Reviewers consistently praise:

  • Outstanding Sunday roasts, often described as the best in Norfolk.
  • A genuinely dog‑friendly environment, making it a favourite for locals and visitors alike.
  • High‑quality dishes, such as Blackened Mackerel, Saffron Potatoes, Pudina Chutney, Tomato Salsa & Spiced Lamb chop, Lamb Bon Bon, Cauliflower, Fig, Batata Harra , Coriander
  • A cosy, buzzy atmosphere with a rustic bar, wood‑burning fire, and a beautiful beer garden.
  • Warm, attentive service,  with staff frequently recognised by name.
  • This is a pub with heart, heritage, and ambition—and we’re looking for a Head Chef who can help shape its next chapter.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a talented and inspiring  Head Chef to lead the kitchen at The Langham Blue Bell. This is a hands‑on, creative role where you’ll have the freedom to develop menus, champion local produce, and deliver the consistency and quality our guests love.

You’ll be joining a business that values personality, teamwork, and a laid‑back but professional approach. The right person will thrive in an environment where great food, good humour, and genuine hospitality matter just as much as technical skill.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Leading the kitchen team with confidence, clarity, and a positive, collaborative spirit.
  • Developing seasonal menus that reflect the character of the pub and the expectations of our guests.
  • Ensuring consistency and excellence across all dishes, from weekday classics to our renowned Sunday roasts.
  • Managing stock, placing orders, and maintaining strong supplier relationships—especially with local producers.
  • Overseeing kitchen standards, including food safety, cleanliness, and compliance.
  • Training, mentoring, and motivating the team to grow their skills and deliver their best work.
  • Managing GP, waste, and labour costs effectively without compromising quality.
  • Contributing to the fun, relaxed, and community‑driven atmosphere that defines The Blue Bell.

What We’re Looking For

  • A creative and confident chef with experience leading a kitchen in a quality pub or restaurant.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to build a cohesive, motivated team.
  • A passion for seasonal, local ingredients and well‑executed, flavour‑driven dishes.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to stay calm and focused during busy services.
  • A commitment to consistency, standards, and guest satisfaction.
Someone who enjoys being part of a friendly, downtoearth environment where personality is valued.

What We Offer

  • 4 Day Week
  • A competitive salary
  • Creative freedom to shape menus and influence the culinary direction of the pub.
  • Support from an experienced senior team and the wider Harper group.
  • Opportunities for professional development and progression.
  • A warm, inclusive working culture where your ideas and individuality are genuinely valued.
  • Staff perks across both The Blue Bell and The Harper.
