Set in the heart of Donnington Village, Newbury, The Hartley Arms is a beautifully appointed, cosy restaurant with a regularly changing menu that is dictated by the seasons. The restaurant is a snug, contemporary space with 36 covers per restaurant service (lunch and dinner, Wednesday - Sunday only) where guests enjoy thoughtfully prepared meals using fresh and local produce and a wide range of drinks including beers from local breweries, hand selected European wines as well as an extensive cocktail menu.
Behind the pub, there is a beautifully decorated courtyard with an Honesty Café tucked in the corner, serving coffee, tea, cakes, lunch and bread from Wednesday to Sunday (as of current passing trade) . Meals can be ordered from either the pub or café and enjoyed in the courtyard.
Hartley Arms has been awarded one AA rosette from the AA Rosette Award Scheme in recognition of its high quality food and culinary excellence - placing it amongst 10% of the best in the country and being one of only 3 within the Newbury area.

Honesty Group is a food business who care about their food, where it comes from, what is in it and how it is produced. Founded by Romilla Arber in 2014, the business has since grown and is encouraging people everyday to care more about the food they consume. We now run 2 pubs, 2 farm shops, and 9 coffee shops (and counting!)
Honesty Group at the Hartley Arms: Pub and Restaurant
General Purpose
To manage the day-to-day running of the pub/ coffee shop, ensuring appropriate staffing levels on each service, interacting with the customers to promote Honesty and delivering excellent levels of service.
Tronc Tips weekly - £350.00 to £500.00 (great benefit of working with a small team)

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
To manage the forecasting of the pub’s operation (planning the FoH Shifts, restaurant, bar and coffee shop):
Based on bookings
General forecasting
Events
Financial and Operational requirements:
To set operating goals and objectives
Prepare and implement standard operating procedures
To ensure cash management procedures are completed accurately
Set and monitor budgets
Analyse budget variances and take corrective actions
Implement and oversee cost saving measures
Plan and monitor restaurant sales and revenue
Prepare and analyse management reports
Determine and execute operating improvements
To identify and evaluate competitors
Keep current with trends in the restaurant industry
Negotiate purchase prices and develop preferred suppliers
Ordering and storing of chemicals for FOH and BOH
To organise the bar resources:
Purchases and deliveries (suppliers)
Stock control (purchases)
Liaise with head chef for any dry orders for bar
To manage the FoH team, including:
Rotas and shift patterns;
Holiday management;
Disciplinary and grievance procedures;
Continuous training and development.
Leadership of FOH Supervisors
Ensure cleaning of all of the premises is carried out daily and weekly checks
To produce a monthly report (KPI’s), and attend manager’s meetings:
Informing Senior management of covers, reservations and customer satisfaction
To liaise with the Head Chef and the Kitchen team, ensuring:
New menu is passed onto marketing for design and print
Analyse food and beverage costs and assign menu prices given by head chef
Management of Events and Large bookings;
FoH training and development in regards to menu
To implement and maintain H&S and Fire Evacuation procedures.
To ensure preventative maintenance is carried out, and that all the issues (breakages, repairs, etc) are fixed in a timely manner
SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITY
Availability to work on a rota basis (5 days out of 7, including weekends and bank holidays)
Availability to work through 2 different shifts (11:30-23:00) main shift
- 08:00-16:00 (cover coffee shop if cover cannot be found)
Interest in food and beverage products (full training is provided as it is necessary that the team knows the product range, menus, etc)

Computer literate (experience on EXCEL, WORD, Email and Internet)
Previous experience in working in a pubs/ restaurants
Able/Interested in working in a fast paced environment where quality, standards and customer’s satisfaction are priorities.
