Who We Are

At Honesty Group, we believe hospitality should feel honest, welcoming, and full of care — whether that’s through a perfect sourdough loaf, a well-poured pint, or a kitchen that runs smoothly behind the scenes.

The Hartley Arms is a pub rooted in community: good food, good people, and genuine hospitality. No gimmicks. Just quality ingredients, warm service, and a team that looks after one another.

Everything we do is built on teamwork. And that includes the kitchen.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

We believe every role matters. A strong kitchen porter keeps the whole kitchen moving and plays a huge part in delivering great service.

You’ll be joining a supportive team where hard work is noticed, people are respected, and opportunities to grow are real.

Many of our chefs and kitchen leaders started in junior kitchen roles — we love developing people who care and want to learn.

What You’ll Do

As Kitchen Porter, you’ll help keep the kitchen running smoothly, safely, and efficiently every day.

Your role will include:

  • Washing dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Keeping kitchen areas clean, organised, and safe throughout service
  • Supporting chefs with basic food prep when needed
  • Helping with deliveries, stock organisation, and storage
  • Taking pride in cleanliness standards and food safety procedures
  • Assisting with waste disposal and recycling
  • Working closely with the kitchen team during busy services
  • Helping maintain a positive and hardworking kitchen environment
Working Hours: Friday - 17:30 - 21:30hr, Saturday - 11:00 - 15:00hr & 17:30 - 21:30hr.

Who You Are

  • Reliable, hardworking, and positive
  • Calm under pressure and happy working in a busy environment
  • A team player who’s willing to jump in and help
  • Someone who takes pride in doing things properly
  • Respectful toward people, food, and the space you work in
  • Keen to learn and develop new skills

No previous experience is required — attitude matters more to us than background.

  • Full training and support
  • Free meal on duty
  • 20% discount across Honesty Group sites
  • Opportunities to progress into chef roles and wider kitchen development
  • Discounted courses through our Cookery School
  • A genuinely supportive working environment

Your Future Here

This role could lead to:

  • Commis Chef

  • Kitchen leadership opportunities in the future

We believe in promoting from within whenever we can.
