We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of The Lanes, a vibrant multi-activity venue combining bowling, karaoke, live gigs, bar service, and club nights. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality and events environment and is confident balancing front of house leadership with operational responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Front of House & Customer Experience
- Lead and support front-of-house service to ensure a high standard of customer experience
- Act as a point of contact for customer queries, feedback, and issue resolution
- Maintain a welcoming, energetic atmosphere across all areas of the venue
Events, Gigs & Club Night Management
- Oversee and manage live gigs, club nights, and events, ensuring smooth delivery
- Coordinate with artists, DJs, promoters, and technical staff
- Support basic stage/event setup and ensure readiness for performances
- Monitor crowd control, safety, and overall atmosphere during busy events
Operations & Maintenance
- Assist the General Manager with daily operations and venue management
- Support basic maintenance and troubleshooting across the venue
- Learn and carry out minor repairs and upkeep of bowling lanes and karaoke systems (full training provided)
Stock & Ordering
- Manage stock levels, including bar supplies and operational materials
- Place orders with suppliers and maintain accurate stock records
- Conduct regular stock takes and minimise waste or loss
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and motivate front-of-house staff
- Lead shifts, ensuring staff are organised, efficient, and delivering great service
- Support recruitment and onboarding where required
Health & Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and licensing laws
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout the venue
- Support safe delivery of live music events, including adherence to capacity and sound regulations
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within hospitality, nightlife, or live events
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A hands-on, problem-solving attitude
- Ability to work late nights and weekends
- Interest in live music, events, and entertainment venues is a plus
- Willingness to learn technical aspects of bowling and karaoke systems
