Maintenance Support Operative / Caretaker

The Lion Inn, Boreham
Friday to Monday | 7:00am – 3:00pm | 32 hours per week | £13.50 per hour

At the Coaching Inn Group, our mission is simple – to deliver Hospitality from the Heart.

We’re looking for a practical, reliable and proactive Maintenance Support Operative / Caretaker to join the team at The Lion Inn, Boreham.

This is an important role within the hotel, helping to keep our grounds, public areas, event spaces and guest facilities safe, clean and beautifully presented. Working primarily across the weekend, you’ll play a key part in maintaining the excellent first impressions our guests expect, while supporting the day-to-day maintenance needs of the property.

What will you be doing?

  • Carrying out daily property and grounds checks to ensure the hotel is safe, presentable and welcoming.
  • Maintaining outdoor areas through litter picking, sweeping, jet washing, gardening support and general upkeep.
  • Keeping car parks, walkways, entrances and terraces clean and well presented.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs throughout the hotel.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests from different departments.
  • Assisting with the preparation of guest rooms, restaurant areas and event spaces when required.
  • Completing weekly facility checks and maintaining accurate records.
  • Proactively identifying maintenance issues and addressing them before they become bigger problems.
  • Working alongside third-party contractors when specialist repairs are required.
  • Logging repairs, maintenance work and quotations through our facilities management systems.
  • Acting as a caretaker for the property during weekend operations, providing support to guests and team members when maintenance issues arise.
  • Taking pride in the appearance of the hotel and helping us maintain the high standards our guests expect.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable and takes pride in doing a great job.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Previous experience in maintenance, caretaking, facilities or property – desirable but not essential.
  • Practical DIY skills and basic trade knowledge.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work independently.
  • A keen eye for detail and high presentation standards.
  • A natural ability to identify problems and find practical solutions.
  • Excellent reliability, organisation and time-management skills.
  • A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to support different departments when needed.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm when unexpected issues arise.
