The Lion Inn Boreham is looking for a practical, reliable and proactive Maintenance Support Operative / Caretaker to join our team.
This is a key role within the hotel, ensuring our grounds, public areas, event spaces and guest facilities are always presented to the highest standard. Working primarily across weekends, you'll help maintain the excellent first impressions our guests expect whilst supporting day-to-day maintenance requirements across the property.
What does this role involve?
Conducting daily property and grounds checks to ensure the hotel is safe, presentable and welcoming. Maintaining outdoor areas including litter picking, sweeping, jet washing, gardening support and general tidiness.
Supporting the upkeep of car parks, walkways, entrances and terraces to ensure they remain clean and well-presented.
Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs throughout the hotel.
Responding to maintenance requests from departments and resolving issues promptly.
Assisting with room, restaurant and event space preparation where required.
Completing weekly facility checks and maintaining accurate records.
Proactively identifying maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
Working alongside third-party contractors when specialist repairs are required.
Logging repairs, maintenance works and quotations through our facilities management systems.
Acting as a caretaker for the property during weekend operations, ensuring guests and team members have support when maintenance issues arise.
Taking pride in the appearance of the hotel and helping maintain the high standards our guests expect.
What are we looking for?
Previous maintenance, caretaking, facilities or property experience is desirable.
Practical DIY and basic trade skills.
A proactive approach with the ability to work independently.
A strong eye for detail and presentation standards.
Someone who enjoys being hands-on and solving problems.
Reliable, organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
A positive team player who is happy to support different departments when needed.
