Night Porter 

Location - The Mole Resort EX37
Salary     - £27,315 per year 
Hours     - 40 per week 

Job Purpose

The Night Porter is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of guests during overnight hours while maintaining the resort's high standards of presentation and service. The role combines security duties, customer service, preparation of public areas for the following day, and regular health and safety monitoring across the resort.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service

  • Provide a warm, professional, and welcoming presence for guests during overnight hours.
  • Assist guests with enquiries, requests, and concerns in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Support late check-ins and early departures when required.
  • Handle guest issues calmly and efficiently, escalating matters where necessary.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of resort facilities and services.

Security

  • Ensure the security of guests, staff, buildings, and resort grounds throughout the night.
  • Monitor access points and challenge unauthorised individuals where appropriate.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, disturbances, or emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences.
  • Liaise with emergency services when required.

Patrols and Site Monitoring

  • Conduct regular patrols of the resort buildings, grounds, car parks, and other designated areas.
  • Check that doors, windows, gates, and other access points are secure.
  • Monitor the condition of facilities and report maintenance concerns.
  • Identify and report suspicious activity or potential security risks.

Public Area Preparation

  • Prepare public areas for the following day's operations, ensuring the resort is presented to the highest standard.
  • Arrange furniture and equipment in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Ensure reception, lounges, meeting areas, corridors, and other guest-facing spaces are clean, tidy, and ready for use.
  • Replenish guest supplies and promotional materials as required.
  • Support housekeeping and operational teams with overnight setup duties.

Health and Safety

  • Carry out routine health and safety checks across the resort.
  • Identify hazards and take appropriate action to minimise risks.
  • Conduct fire safety checks, including emergency exits, alarm panels, and evacuation routes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Report accidents, incidents, maintenance issues, and defects promptly.
  • Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid incidents where trained.

Operational Support

  • Complete nightly checklists and administrative duties accurately.
  • Assist with basic cleaning and housekeeping tasks as required.
  • Support other departments to ensure smooth overnight operations.
  • Ensure all areas of the resort remain safe, secure, and guest-ready at all times.

Person Specification – what are we looking for

Essential qualities

  • Previous experience in a customer service, hospitality, security, or facilities role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and discreet.
  • Flexible approach to work and willingness to undertake a variety of duties.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies.

Desirable experience

  • Previous experience as a Night Porter or Night Auditor.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Fire Warden training.
  • Security experience or relevant certification.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a hospitality environment.

Working Hours

  • Night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Typical shift pattern: 9:00 pm to 7:00 am 4 days per week
