Job description
Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the restaurant accounting close process, financial reporting, and overseeing day-to-day cash management. There is also opportunity for this position to be involved with other aspects of financial close, such as G&A, lease accounting, fixed assets, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for closing restaurants within timelines set by the CFO, Controller and Director of Accounting
• Manages period end close process to ensure store level financials are accurate and complete
• Month end duties, such as utility accruals, change in inventory, marketing budgets, etc.
• Issues period end reporting to operations teams and acts as main resource for P&L questions
• Assists the Controller and Director of Accounting with period end reporting for executive leaders
• Collaborates with other internal groups (AP, Finance, IT) to improve processes and streamline information flow
• Ensure all processes are SOX compliant and incorporate improvements and efficiencies as necessary
• Manage day-to-day cash handling by working closely with external accounting team
• Perform and/or review reconciliations for gift cards, credit cards, and due from/to hotel activity
• Assists with eternal audit requests
• No direct reports but partners with Controller and Director of Accounting to manage workflow with external accounting team

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
• Minimum of 3-4 years general accounting experience
• Restaurant or similar retail industry experience strongly preferred
• CPA a plus

Knowledge and Skills:
• An understanding of GAAP
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Intermediate to Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with Access or SQL
• Experience with Great Plains a plus
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Must be a team player
• Professional and well organized
