Located in the heart of Kentish Town, The Parakeet is an independent public house and dining room. In the front, a lively local pub atmosphere; in the back, an award-winning dining room serving Basque-inspired small plates cooked over coal and fire. As Assistant General Manager, you’ll work closely with the General Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of the dining room, ensuring every guest enjoys a warm welcome and an exceptional dining experience. You’ll help lead and inspire the team, maintain high service standards, and support the delivery of our creative, seasonal menu.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting overall management of daily operations and long-term strategy
Leading and motivating the front-of-house team, with a focus on professional, friendly service
Overseeing floor operations and ensuring smooth, memorable guest experiences
Using your wine knowledge to support the list, guide guests, and train the team
Managing staff training, scheduling, and performance
Maintaining a strong presence on the floor and resolving any issues with care
Assisting with financial targets and ensuring health and safety compliance
What we’re looking for:
Strong experience in restaurant or dining room management, ideally in a casual fine dining setting
A passion for wine and food, with the ability to share that enthusiasm with guests and the team
A genuine love of hospitality and creating unique guest experiences
Excellent leadership and organisational skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
