Job Title: Kitchen Assistant (Full-Time)
Location: The Plough – Great Bentley
Reports to: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
Pay: £10-£12.21 per hour, Plus Tips
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is vital in supporting the kitchen team by ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. The ideal candidate must be available to work weekends, public holidays, and festive periods including Christmas and New Year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with basic food preparation and cooking tasks as directed by chefs
- Wash, peel, and chop vegetables and other ingredients
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas
- Maintain hygiene and safety standards at all times
- Receive and store food deliveries appropriately
- Dispose of kitchen waste and operate the dishwasher
- Assist in setting up and closing down the kitchen each day
- Support chefs and front-of-house staff as needed
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment preferred but not essential
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including weekends, public holidays, Christmas, and New Year
- Good understanding of hygiene and food safety standards
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
- A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position (typically 30-40 hours per week)
- Must be available for rotating shifts, including:
- Weekends (Saturday & Sunday)
- Public holidays (including Christmas Day and New Year's Day)
