We are currently looking for an experienced and
motivated Sommelier to join our team at The Stafford
London Hotel.
The Sommelier is responsible for enriching the
dining experience by providing recommendations of wines that harmonise perfectly
with menu options and assisting in enhancing wine tastings and presentations. You will assist in developing the wine
programme within the business in all of the F&B outlets.

About the role, what will I be doing?
- Source and select
wines from various regions, considering factors such as grape varieties,
vintages, and flavours.
- Welcome and greet
guests as they arrive, ensuring they receive a warm welcome.
- Maintain a deep
understanding of the restaurant's wine offerings and menu.
- Establish
relationships with wine distributors, wineries, and suppliers to ensure a
steady supply of high-quality wines.
- Educate and guide
guests in selecting wines that pair well with their meals, considering
their preferences and budget.
- Recommend and
suggest wine pairings for different dishes on the menu to enhance the
dining experience.
- Conduct wine
tastings and training sessions for staff members to improve their
knowledge of wine and service techniques.
- Assist in
coordinating wine-related events, tastings, and promotions to attract and
engage guests.
- Assist in training
front-of-house staff in wine service protocols and wine knowledge.
- Stay up to date
with industry trends, new wine releases, and emerging wine regions
Who are we looking for?
- Extensive
knowledge of wines, including varieties, regions, vintages, and production
methods.
- Previous
experience in a similar role in a fine dining setting.
- Proficiency
in wine service techniques, including proper decanting and pouring.
- Knowledge of food and wine pairing principles to create
harmonious dining experiences.
- Highly organised, multitasking individual, with a positive attitude
& a team player
- Ability to manage varying needs and prioritising to ensure the best
business results
- An exceptional attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and the ability
to communicate effectively and courteously with guests and staff
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
