JOB SUMMARY:
Due to the growth of the Red Carnation Hotel collection in Southern Africa (new Botswana lodge opening June 2020), an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Financial Controller is currently available at a newly created Tour Operator business within the Group, viz: Red Carnation Africa (Pty) Ltd.

ORGANISATIONAL POSITIONING:
• Department: Finance
• Reporting to: Group Financial Manager
• Location: Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE OR QUALIFICATION:
• Must have at least 3-5 years’ relevant experience in a Tour Operator / Hospitality environment.
• Recognised Accounting qualification (e.g.: B.Com / B.Tech / ND Accounting)
• Deadline driven and the ability to produce accurate management accounts on a monthly basis
• Highly computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Opera and Tour Plan (or similar tour operator system) system advantageous
• Comfortable working in a newly formed company & implementing new systems, procedures and internal controls


KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
• Overall responsibility for the full accounting function of Red Carnation Africa, including (inter-alia) the production of the monthly management accounts pack, including full Balance Sheet and inter-company accounts. Full variance analyses between actual and budgeted figures to be provided.
• Provide support to the Group Financial Manager and to be an integral member of the group’s Finance team.
• Reconciliation of all Balance Sheet accounts monthly. All discrepancies or queries are to be investigated and followed up until resolution.
• Preparation and collation of annual budget for the company.
• Overseeing the financial year end audit process and compilation of audit files as requested by the external auditors, so as to ensure a clean audit report is obtained.
• Processing of all monthly journals in the Tour Plan accounting system e.g.: payroll, credit cards etc.
• Preparation of monthly cash flow forecasts ensuring sufficient funding is available.
• Capturing of all supplier invoices into the Tour Plan accounting system, including preparation of full creditors reconciliation and paying suppliers on the Nedbank online banking system
• Preparation and reconciliation of all monthly statutory SARS returns, viz: VAT, PAYE etc., ensuring payments are made accurately and within set deadlines.
• Checking and verifying of all weekly and monthly payments on the Nedbank online banking platform, ensuring all new supplier banking details are accurately captured and verified
• Work closely with Reservations team to ensure that all debtors queries are followed up and resolved and that the debtors age analysis is maintained within set credit limits, with no overdue amounts.
• Vetting of all new supplier and debtors accounts.
• Design, implement & monitor new systems and finance internal controls for the newly created company
• Keep adequate records of all contracts, including filing thereof.
• Ensure all expenditure is properly approved
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all external service providers, clients and colleagues
• Maintenance of Fixed Asset registers
• Ad-hoc projects and duties from time to time as requested by the Group Financial Managers / RCA management
