PURPOSE OF JOB:
As a Supervisor of a pub and hotel, your primary role is to oversee the day-to-day operations and ensure the smooth functioning of the establishment, for both the bar and hotel. You will be responsible for managing the staff, maintaining high service standards, ensuring customer satisfaction, answering guest enquires, managing bookings and guest liaison. This role is part time and paid hourly, on average working 20 hours a week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Staff Management: Supervise and coordinate the work of the pub and hotel staff, including bartenders, servers, house keepers and kitchen staff. This involves the training of new employees, assisting in scheduling shifts, and assigning tasks.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service and maintain a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the venue. Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and ensure a positive experience for everyone.
- Operational Efficiency: Monitor venue operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to established policies and procedures. This includes managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment in good working order.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all food and beverages served meet quality standards and are prepared according to recipes and guidelines. Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards.
- Sales and Revenue Generation: Work closely with the management team to implement strategies for increasing sales and revenue. This involves promoting special offers, organizing events or promotions, and upselling menu items.
- Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and coaching to staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge. Foster a positive work environment and encourage teamwork and professional growth.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements. This includes overseeing responsible alcohol service, maintaining records, and implementing health and safety protocols. Supporting the hotel in maintaining high standards of health and safety. Ensuring GDPR procedures relating to guest information are followed. Assisting with EHO & fire safety documentation and compliance records.
- Financial Management: Monitor and manage the venues finances, including cash handling, budgeting, and tracking expenses. Prepare reports on sales, profitability, and other performance indicators.
- Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones. Utilize social media platforms and other advertising channels to promote the pub's offerings.
- Security and Safety: Maintain a safe and secure environment
for staff and customers. Implement security measures, such as surveillance
systems and staff training on emergency procedures.
- Reception & Guest Services: Welcoming guests and assisting with check-ins and check-outs. Managing reservations and booking enquiries. Responding to telephone calls, emails, online reviews, and guest enquiries. Handling guest requests professionally and resolving any issues efficiently. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the reception and bar areas. Preparing and running the hotel's breakfast service.
- Administration: Processing payments, invoices, deposits, and refunds where required. Acting as a key point of contact for guests before, during, and after their stay. Maintaining hotel filing systems and documentation. Cash handling, reconciliation, and accurate record keeping.
- Operational Support: Coordinating communication between reception,
housekeeping, maintenance, and management. Preparing daily arrival, departure, and housekeeping
reports. Monitoring room readiness to ensure guests can check in on
time. Reporting maintenance issues and following them through to
completion. Working collaboratively across all departments to deliver
an excellent guest experience.
- Stock & Purchasing: Assisting with the management of hotel, bar, and kitchen
stock. Receiving deliveries, putting stock away, and ensuring
correct stock rotation. Monitoring stock levels and informing managers when
reordering is required. Processing linen orders and maintaining appropriate linen
stock levels.
