Founding Salon Server 

The Whit | New Orleans, LA 

We're opening the doors to something extraordinary, and we're looking for the people who will help define it. 

The Whit is an intimate luxury hotel housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century mansion in the heart of New Orleans. Home to 15 guest rooms, a bar, cocktail salon, library, refined food and beverage, and elegant private events, The Whit offers a hospitality experience that feels more like staying in the home of an extraordinary host than a traditional hotel. 

As part of our founding Food & Beverage team, the Founding Salon Server will help bring the experience of The Whit's cocktail salon and dining spaces to life from day one. 

This is a hands-on, guest-facing role for someone who understands that exceptional hospitality is about more than taking an order. It's about creating a sense of ease, anticipating needs, knowing the details, and making every guest feel genuinely cared for. 

Whether you're welcoming someone for an afternoon coffee, guiding a guest through the cocktail menu, serving an intimate dinner, or helping create a memorable private event, you'll play an important role in defining what hospitality feels like at The Whit. 

What You'll Do 

• Welcome guests with warmth, confidence, and genuine hospitality. 

• Deliver attentive, personalized service while anticipating guest needs before they are expressed. 

• Create a relaxed, polished, and welcoming atmosphere throughout the salon and dining spaces. 

• Develop a strong knowledge of our food, cocktails, wine, Champagne, coffee, and beverage offerings. 

• Guide guests through menus and make thoughtful recommendations based on their preferences and occasion. 

• Take accurate food and beverage orders and communicate clearly with the kitchen and bar teams. 

• Deliver food and beverages with care, precision, and an understanding of elevated service standards. 

• Maintain awareness of each table throughout the guest experience without being intrusive. 

• Build genuine relationships with guests and remember preferences whenever possible. 

• Maintain beautifully presented tables, service areas, and guest spaces throughout service. 

• Coordinate closely with the kitchen, bar, events, and hotel teams to ensure a seamless guest experience. 

• Handle guest requests, questions, and concerns with warmth, professionalism, and sound judgment. 

• Process guest checks accurately and follow established POS procedures. 

• Complete opening, closing, and side-work responsibilities to ensure the salon is always ready for service. 

• Support private events, celebrations, and special guest experiences as needed. 

• Follow established service standards, recipes, procedures, and presentation guidelines. 

• Contribute thoughtful feedback as we continue developing The Whit's service culture and guest experience. 

• Support teammates and step in wherever needed to ensure every guest receives exceptional care.

Qualifications 

• Previous serving experience in fine dining, luxury hotels, boutique hotels, private clubs, or other high-touch hospitality environments preferred. 

• Genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences. 

• Strong knowledge of food, cocktails, wine, Champagne, and service standards, or an eagerness to learn. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to elevated service. 

• Ability to anticipate guest needs and provide thoughtful, personalized service. 

• Comfortable working in an intimate, guest-facing environment. 

• Ability to remain composed, gracious, and attentive in a fast-paced setting. 

• Professional appearance and demeanor. 

• Familiarity with Toast POS or a similar system preferred. 

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small, highly engaged team. 

• Evening, weekend, and holiday availability. 

• Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute during the opening period.
