Luxury Hotel Host/Steward
The Whit | New Orleans, LA
The Whit is an intimate luxury boutique hotel where gracious hospitality feels personal, effortless, and unforgettable. We are seeking an exceptional Steward to become the face of our guest experience.
This is not a traditional Front Desk Agent or Restaurant Host position.
Our Stewards are the connective thread between the hotel and The Salon, guiding guests through every stage of their experience. From arrival and check-in to dining, concierge assistance, and departure. You'll spend your day moving throughout the property with an iPad in hand, anticipating needs, solving problems before they're noticed, and building genuine relationships with our guests.
If you love creating memorable experiences, enjoy being on your feet, and thrive in a fast-paced luxury environment, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
Welcome hotel and restaurant guests with warmth and confidence.
Coordinate seamless hotel arrivals, departures, and guest room escorts.
Process check-ins, payments, and guest requests using our Property Management System.
Manage restaurant reservations, seating, and waitlists.
Serve as the primary point of contact for guests throughout their stay.
Coordinate with Housekeeping, Porters, Food & Beverage, and Leadership to deliver exceptional service.
Handle room service and to-go orders while communicating with the Porter team for delivery.
Share knowledge of hotel amenities, dining experiences, neighborhood recommendations, and special events.
Maintain an active presence throughout the property rather than remaining behind a desk.
Anticipate guest needs and resolve concerns with professionalism and grace.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in luxury hotels, boutique hotels, upscale restaurants, or hospitality.
Experience with a Property Management System such as Mews, Stayntouch, or Cloudbeds.
Familiarity with Toast POS or a similar point-of-sale system.
Experience using reservation platforms such as Resy or OpenTable.
Comfortable learning multiple technology platforms and working from an iPad throughout the shift.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure.
Exceptional communication and polished professional presence.
Naturally warm, engaging, and guest-focused personality.
A team-first attitude with the confidence to lead by example and support colleagues across departments.
Ability to remain standing and actively walking for shifts of up to 8 hours.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds when assisting guests if needed.
Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Why You'll Love This Role
This is an opportunity to redefine what hospitality looks like. Rather than being confined to a front desk or host stand, you'll become a visible ambassador for The Whit, welcoming guests, anticipating their needs, and creating thoughtful moments throughout their visit.
If you're passionate about luxury hospitality and believe genuine service is found in the details, we invite you to join our opening team.
