About us

Consistently recognised as a Sunday Times ‘Best Big Companies’ to work for, we’re the UK’s leading family-friendly retailer of value gifts, arts, crafts, toys, books and stationery

Our purpose is to inspire reading, learning, creativity and play - making lives more fulfilled. Underpinning this, we believe in the importance of fun and fulfilment for our colleagues in the workplace too, which is key to our cultural success

We’re a proactive and hardworking bunch. We’ve built an environment that’s busy, fast-pace and full of energy. Our atmosphere is welcoming, friendly and inclusive. If you’re the kind of person who’s as Crafty, Caring and Can-do as we are, then this is the kind of place for you

A common response theme from our people when asked “Why do you love working at The Works?” is: ‘It's like having a second family at work and you can't find our culture anywhere else’ – pretty nice, right?
