As Construction Project Manager you will be responsible for overseeing a number of different types of constriction projects. You will lead the project from initiation to close, hiring subcontractors, working with vendors and tracking inventory of equipment and materials. You should be knowledgeable about regulations, permits and project management methodology. The ability to work well with others, be highly organised and detail-oriented, meet deadlines and strive to stay within budget are essential in this role.

 

The bit ‘About the Role’

 

  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to determine the specifications of each project
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
  • Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
  • Determine needed resources (people, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
  • Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to effectively handle inadequacies
  • Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities
  • Supervise the work of labourers and mechanics and give them guidance when needed
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Construction Project Manager
  • Experience in the re-tendering of contracts
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principals
  • Retail or leisure project management experience
  • Experience in large scale roll out projects or refurbishment projects
  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Familiarity with construction / project management software
