Description

Night House Manager Another Place, The Machrie |Duty Managers

Offering a competitive salary, monthly tips, use of our Championship Links Golf Course, and an annual £2,598 Islay Living Allowance (paid monthly) for all off-site team.

Wild coastlines, big skies and a close-knit island community set the rhythm of daily life on Islay. The roll of waves, breeze-blown dune grasses, and call of seabirds make up a rich island soundtrack.

Originating from the Gaelic term ‘machair’, Machrie offers elevated comforts and unforgettable experiences.

Our Night House Manager role:

We’re looking for a Night Duty Manager to join our welcoming team.

As our Night Duty Manager, you’ll take the lead during the overnight operation of the hotel, ensuring everything runs smoothly whilst delivering a warm, professional and efficient service to our guests. From overseeing the hotel throughout the night and completing the night audit to welcoming late arrivals and supporting early departures, you’ll play a key role in creating a safe, seamless and memorable guest experience.

In return for your enthusiasm and commitment, you’ll find yourself in a group of likeminded people with a shared outlook on life; where friendship, connection, flexibility, variety and challenge make every working day worthwhile.

This role is 40 hours per week, working four nights out of seven, and your own transport is essential.

As our Night Duty Manager you’ll be:

  • Leading the hotel overnight, ensuring a safe, smooth operation and an exceptional guest experience.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for guests, handling queries and resolving issues with confidence and care.
  • Completing the night audit and preparing for the following day's arrivals.
  • Carrying out regular security and hotel checks, including monitoring CCTV and maintaining reception standards.
  • Supporting our night cleaning team and delivering room service when required.
  • Responding to incidents appropriately, escalating where necessary, and providing a thorough handover for our House Managers (including any maintenance issues).
  • Supporting the wider management team with administrative tasks and following company policies and procedures.

With 43 beautifully designed rooms, The Machrie encapsulates the best of both worlds; a feeling of being looked-after, and the freedom to explore.

The skills you’ll be sharing with us:

  • Previous experience in a Night Duty Manager or similar hotel role, with confidence in running night audits and overseeing the hotel overnight
  • Experience using a hotel property management system (desirable)
  • Previous Front of House experience (or equivalent)
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Friendly, professional communication – you’ll be someone who enjoys helping people and building positive relationships with guests and team
  • A diplomatic nature with the ability to remain calm under pressure, using your initiative to make decisions independently
  • A sound knowledge of a hotel integrated PMS system
  • A genuine passion for delivering outstanding guest service, with a positive attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile

First Aid, Fire Warden training and an Enhanced DBS check are desirable, but not essential.

Bonus points if you have…

  • Previous island living experience (or are local to Islay)
  • Hobbies or interests in the following areas: the outdoors, writing, natural history, marine science, animal science, photography (or equivalent)

Life at Another Place, The Machrie

What we’ll offer you in return:

  • A relaxed, professional place to work in a beautiful location – Islay ‘the queen’ of the Hebridean archipelago off the West Coast of Scotland
  • Accommodation (as required, dependent on availability)
  • An Islay Living Allowance provided for team members residing off-site
  • Use of our Championship Links Golf Course (7,000 yards from the back tees, rated one of the world's top 100), regardless of ability
  • Excellent career prospects in an ever-expanding organisation
  • Special rates for you and your friends & family to stay at Another Place – The Machrie, Another Place – The Lake, SeaSpace, and Watergate Bay Hotels
  • Discounts for you and your friends & family to eat at our variety of restaurants (including 18 Restaurant and Bar)
  • Team assistance scheme – a dedicated helpline for support & advice on topics from mental health through to managing your finances
  • With far-reaching views stretching across the golf links and Laggan Bay, you’ll never be short on inspiration. Life at Another Place isn't just a job, it's a transformative career opportunity.
