Offering a competitive salary, monthly tips, and an annual £2,598 Islay Living Allowance (paid monthly) for all off-site team.

Our Breakfast Chef role:

We’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic Breakfast Chef to join our kitchen team.

From Loch Gruinart oysters, Islay scallops and Port Askaig lobster to locally reared beef, lamb, game and seasonal vegetables, our menus celebrate the very best of island produce. As our Breakfast Chef, you'll play an important role in creating memorable mornings for our guests while working with some of Scotland's finest ingredients.

This is a full-time opportunity to develop your career within an ambitious, growing hospitality organization in one of the UK's most unique and idyllic locations.

As our Breakfast Chef you’ll be:

  • Carrying out the preparation, cooking and portioning of all breakfast food dishes to our high consistent standards of quality and quantity. 
  • Preparing for the day’s business in accordance with projected needs.
  • Delivering our full breakfast service, including preparing and portioning appropriate quantities of ingredients.
  • Slicing cold meat, cutting fruit, and preparing compotes required for the cold buffet, and maintaining fresh items from day to day.
  • Preparing, cooking, and serving food as required, ensuring accurate portion control while maintaining an appealing and high-quality presentation.
  • Maintaining the appearance and functionality of our department, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards of the kitchen are met. 
  • Preparing for business in accordance with projected department needs. 
  • Undertaking many crucial tasks associated with the preparation, storage and service of food. 
  • Maintaining a high level of personal hygiene and cleanliness whilst in the workplace. 
  • Maintaining an organised, clean and safe workplace, not only for yourself but also for those around. 

You’ll also be: 

  • Following preservation standards for the proper handling of all food products (stored at the correct temperature). 
  • Following all Health and Safety guidelines. 
  • Promoting our shared responsibility to look after our team and planet. 

The skills you’ll be sharing with us: 

  • Food Hygiene Certificate (essential)
  • NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Professional Cookery, or equivalent qualification (minimum requirement)
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional variable shift patterns
  • Strong listening and communication skills with a proactive, supportive attitude
  • Reliable, accountable, and committed to working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Professional appearance with high standards of personal presentation and hygiene
  • Passion for food and the hospitality industry, with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Ability to remain calm and organised in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment
  • Guest-focused approach with a commitment to delivering excellent food and service
  • Sound knowledge of food ingredients; an interest in Scottish, locally sourced, and sustainable produce is desirable
  • Commitment to the safe and responsible use of kitchen equipment and resources
  • Genuine care for team, guests, and our wider community on Islay
    A valid driving licence and use of a personal vehicle
    Previous experience of island living, or equivalent
