Seasonal Kitchen Porter | Another Place, The Machrie | Part-time, 16 hours per week | Golf included

£13.75 per hour (local rate) + monthly tips offered until November

Local to Islay and looking for some extra hours over the next few months?

We’re looking for a Seasonal Kitchen Porter to join our team at Another Place, The Machrie for the remainder of the season, working 16 hours per week until November. With our Islay Living Allowance included, we're offering £13.75 per hour, plus monthly tips and a range of team benefits.

Proud to be part of our Islay community, we work closely with local suppliers and love showcasing the island’s produce to our guests. If you know island life, enjoy being part of a team and are someone who takes pride in doing a job well, we’d love to hear from you.

About our Kitchen Porter role

Our Kitchen Porter team is an important part of keeping our kitchen running smoothly. You’ll help keep our kitchen clean, organised and safe, support our chefs with preparation and ensure the team has everything they need for a busy service. It’s a hands-on role where reliability, a good attitude and attention to detail really matter.

You’ll be:

  • Keeping kitchen equipment, work surfaces and floors clean and hygienic.
  • Washing crockery, cutlery, pots and kitchen equipment.
  • Keeping the pot wash and wider kitchen areas clean and organised.
  • Helping with food preparation for daily service.
  • Supporting the kitchen and wider back-of-house team as needed.
  • Removing refuse promptly and keeping waste areas clean and tidy.
  • Sweeping and cleaning kitchen corridors and passageways.
  • Clearing spillages and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Recording waste correctly.
  • Following food safety, hygiene and health & safety requirements.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need extensive kitchen experience. A reliable attitude, willingness to get stuck in and pride in your work are just as important.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A positive, hardworking and dependable attitude.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • The ability to stay calm and organised in a busy kitchen.
  • A team-focused and helpful approach.
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • An interest in food, hospitality and sustainable food practices.
  • Previous kitchen or hospitality experience (preferred, but not essential).
  • Previous experience of island living or a good understanding of life on Islay (desirable).
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable).

Life at The Machrie

The Machrie sits amongst Islay’s dunes overlooking Laggan Bay, surrounded by the landscape that makes this island special. We’re proud to be part of our local community and to have a team that brings together people who live on Islay and those who have discovered island life along the way.

For the remainder of the season, you’ll be joining us at a busy and rewarding time of year – helping our kitchen team showcase the very best of Islay while enjoying the benefits of working here yourself.

What we’ll offer you in return:

  • £13.75 per hour plus a share of tips (paid monthly)
  • A relaxed, professional place to work in a beautiful island setting
  • A welcoming, supportive team
  • Accommodation, if required and subject to availability
  • Use of our Championship Links Golf Course, regardless of ability
  • Special rates and discounts across Another Place hotels and restaurants for you, your friends and family
  • Team social events and assistance scheme
  • Training and development opportunities

From great team benefits to opportunities to grow, we’re committed to looking after our people – with the links and Laggan Bay right on your doorstep.

Already part of the Islay community? Come and spend the rest of the season with us. Apply today and become part of the team at Another Place, The Machrie.
