Our Assistant Restaurant Manager role

The Machrie is a relaxed, professional place to work with a passionate team that values friendship, flexibility and variety.

Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, you will assist in managing the hotel’s restaurant with an excellent annual turnover. You will bring plenty of industry experience and strong leadership skills to the role and your warm and professional personality will fit perfectly with our culture of “relaxed professionalism”.  As well as delivering an unrivalled dining experience, you will work closely with our F&B manager and head chef to express our passion for food in a lakeside location.

As our Assistant Restaurant Manager you’ll be:

  • Assisting the manager in recruiting restaurant team
  • Managing rotas, timesheets, and wages in line with business needs
  • Supporting team training, development, and performance management
  • Actively engaging in the restaurant's daily operations
  • Supervising the restaurant to create a welcoming and relaxed environment for guests and a smooth running of service
  • Handling and resolving guest complaints
  • Working with the food and beverage manager and head chef to improve all aspects of our food service 
  • Supporting the supervision of functions and events in a professional manner 
  • Ensuring the security of stock, premises, and cash
  • Upholding restaurant standards and statutory licensing regulations
  • Following COSHH and health and safety procedures
  • Implementing fire procedures and team training
  • Enforcing the Health and Safety Policy promptly

The skills you’ll be sharing with us:

  • Supervisor or management experience in a similar setting
  • A good knowledge of customer care/ complaint handling
  • Barista experience
  • Experience in cash handling and stock management 
  • Computer literate
  • Wine and drinks knowledge
  • Good attention to detail
  • Calm under pressure
  • Organised
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel
  • First Aid
  • An understanding of food hygiene and health and safety 
  • Ability to work in a busy environment.
  • Ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
