Description

Learning & Development Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, people-centric and commercially minded Learning & Development Manager / Coach to join our central team. Thesleff Group operates Los Mochis Notting Hill, Los Mochis London City, Sale e Pepe Knightsbridge, and Viajante87, with two new openings in 2026 – Sale e Pepe Mare at The Langham Hotel and Ma/Na Mayfair.

This newly created role is ideal for a hospitality-led L&D professional who is excited by the opportunity to build from the ground up, shape, and lead the Group’s learning and development strategy from the ground up, supporting our people and leaders as the business continues to grow.

We’re looking for a proactive, forward-thinking Learning & Development Coach who thrives on autonomy, communicates with confidence, and influences at every level of the business.

This is a role for someone who loves shaping strategy and rolling up their sleeves to deliver in-person learning, creating visible, measurable impact across a fast-growing, multi-brand hospitality group.

You’ll bring a passion for modern learning: coaching, NLP, adaptive learning and gamified experiences, ideally sharpened in a high-performance environment known for its relentless drive for excellence.

The Role

The Learning & Development Manager / Coach will be responsible for designing, implementing, and embedding a comprehensive learning and development framework across the Group. This includes leadership development, operational training, compliance training, and career progression pathways.

As the first dedicated L&D hire, you will take ownership of the full L&D lifecycle — from needs analysis and programme design through to delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement. The role requires strong organisational skills, excellent stakeholder management, and a deep understanding of learning within a fast-paced hospitality environment.

This position will report to the Head of People and will work closely with HR, Recruitment, and Operations teams across all sites.

What We Offer

  • Private BUPA medical insurance
  • Paid sick leave – 10 days paid sickness
  • Study support scheme
  • Salary sacrifice schemes
  • ILM apprenticeship opportunities
  • 50% off when visiting the restaurants with family & friends
  • Further career development and growth as the restaurant group expands within the UK and internationally

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the Group-wide L&D strategy aligned to business objectives and brand values.
  • Build and embed structured training programmes across all levels, including onboarding, core skills, leadership development, and management pathways.
  • Partner with Operations and People teams to identify skills gaps and future capability needs across all brands and sites.
  • Develop and maintain training frameworks, materials, toolkits, and learning pathways tailored to hospitality environments.
  • Oversee and support management development programmes, including succession planning and talent development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance training (including statutory and brand standards) is delivered effectively and consistently across the business.
  • Track, analyse, and report on L&D effectiveness using data, feedback, and performance metrics.
  • Manage and optimise the use of learning platforms and systems (e.g. Mapal-One, LMS tools, or similar).
  • Support a strong learning culture that drives engagement, retention, and internal progression.
  • Work closely with HR to ensure learning and development aligns with employee lifecycle processes, performance management, and engagement initiatives.

Skill and Experience Requirements

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent qualification in Learning & Development (or working towards).
  • Proven experience in an L&D, or similar role, ideally within hospitality, retail, or a service-led environment.
  • Experience designing and delivering L&D frameworks in a multi-site or multi-brand business.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and modern learning methodologies.
  • Strong understanding and ability to use AI and emerging technologies
  • Confident facilitator with experience delivering training to diverse audiences, including senior leaders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience using LMS platforms such as Mapal-One, Fourth, or similar systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in scaling L&D functions or building programmes from scratch is highly desirable.

Thesleff Group is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion within the workplace. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or other legally protected status.
