Job Summary:
The Food Runner is responsible for ensuring a smooth and
efficient flow of dishes between the kitchen and the dining area. The main
duties include promptly and accurately delivering dishes from the kitchen to
customers’ tables, assisting servers in providing excellent dining experiences,
and maintaining cleanliness and order in the restaurant. The ideal candidate
should be quick, attentive, responsible, and able to work well in the
fast-paced environment of a traditional Chinese dim sum restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Keep
caller station tidy, clean and sanitized at all times including all
glasses, tea cups, and tea pots and are fully stocked up and soda station
are sufficient and ready.
- Check
with the Management Team or Chef on duty of items availability.
- Liaise
with kitchen team for food order, manage missing or wrong orders and check
food items’ preparation and presentation including plates and bamboo
baskets are clean and all are according to prescribed standards.
- Assemble
accurate serving condiments required with each menu item.
- Deliver
food from kitchen to floor with a tray and serve food directly on the
table.
- Provide
name of each of the food item as it is served to the guests and say “enjoy
your meal”.
- Report
to Management Team on duty any special requests of customers or any food
quality problem to ensure its proper handling.
- Ensure
food preparation and presentations are done according to gold standards of
Tim Ho Wan.
- Wash
and dry all trays at the caller’s station.
- Assist
in cleaning tables.
- Ensure
overall cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the front of the house:
counter and dining areas including plates and bamboo baskets and washing
of soiled cloth and utensils.
Job Requirements
- Preferably
1 year of experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment;
experience in a Chinese restaurant or dim sum service is an advantage.
- Good
communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability
to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong
attention to detail and a positive service attitude.
- Basic
knowledge of Chinese cuisine or willingness to learn.
- Able
to stand and walk for extended periods and carry food trays safely.
- Available
to work weekends, public holidays, and split shifts as needed.
- Basic
English proficiency: ability to communicate in Mandarin or Cantonese is a
plus
