Job Summary The Dishwasher / Kitchen Steward ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishware. This role is vital in maintaining a safe and efficient kitchen environment, allowing the culinary team to focus on food preparation and service. The ideal candidate is diligent, reliable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning & Sanitation
- Wash, clean, and sanitize all dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.
- Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, sinks, and workstations.
- Ensure proper storage of cleaned utensils, cookware, and dishware.
- Dispose of waste and recyclables according to hygiene and safety guidelines.
Kitchen Support
- Assist kitchen staff with basic prep tasks when required (e.g., peeling vegetables, moving supplies).
- Help organize and replenish kitchen supplies.
- Monitor cleaning supplies and report shortages to supervisors.
- Follow all kitchen safety, hygiene, and food handling procedures.
Teamwork & Compliance
- Work closely with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow instructions from the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
- Adhere strictly to company hygiene and safety standards.
Job Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to stand for long hours and lift moderate weights.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Willing to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
