POSITION PURPOSE
Support the Director of Finance in the daily management of the Finance Department, including overseeing team operations and deputising in the Director’s absence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Core Duties
Assist in preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
Support the preparation of forecasting documentation.
Review and validate monthly accruals.
Process prepaid invoices and allocate monthly distributions.
Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
Manage and support month-end closing procedures.
Prepare monthly payroll analysis reports.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Ensure purchase ledger and general ledger balances are aligned at month-end.
Team Management Responsibilities
Oversee and support a team of up to 5 team members.
Lead and manage:
Departmental meetings and follow-up actions
Annual appraisal and performance review processes
Ensure completion of risk assessments and promote a safe working environment in line with Health & Safety standards.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment and lead departmental activities.
Capable of analysing and interpreting financial and business information.
Skilled in report writing, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
Confident in presenting information to management, clients, and stakeholders.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, including data analysis and problem-solving.
Ability to identify issues, gather relevant data, and make sound decisions.
Working knowledge of applicable financial regulations, employment laws, taxation, and health & safety standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent).
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
Technical Skills
Proficient in:
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Excel
Accounting systems (e.g., Dataplus or equivalent)
Google Workspace (preferred)
Strong budgeting and financial analysis capabilities.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
* Must be eligible to live and work within the UK
* Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the employee acting as the head of the department. There is direct supervision of 5 team members.
* Must be able to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
* Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
* Bachelor degree required in relevant subject or equivalent required
* 3 years’ experience in a similar role within Hospitality is essential.
