Job description - Retail Supervisor – Golf Shop

Job Title: Retail Supervisor – Golf Shop
Location: Trump Doonbeg
Department: Golf Operations / Retail
Reports To: Golf Manager 

Job Summary

The Retail Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the golf shop within the resort, ensuring an exceptional guest experience while maximizing retail performance. This role combines leadership, customer service, merchandising, and operational responsibilities in a fast-paced, service-driven environment

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise, motivate, and support golf shop retail staff on a daily basis

  • Assist with staff scheduling, training, and performance management, as well as signing off on daily rosters

  • Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service

  • Act as the point of contact in the absence of the Golf  Manager or Head Golf Professional

2. Customer Experience

  • Provide a warm, professional welcome to all guests and members

  • Deliver expert product knowledge on golf equipment, apparel, and accessories

  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints effectively

  • Ensure high service standards aligned with the resort’s brand

3. Retail Operations

  • Oversee opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reconciliation

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels, stock control, and merchandising standards

  • Oversee quarterly stocktakes 

  • Ensure storage areas are keep in a clean & organised manner

  • Assist with ordering, receiving, and pricing of merchandise

  • Monitor sales performance and support initiatives to drive revenue

  • Development & implementation of SPO’s with regards to retail operations

  • Monthly reporting on retail sales, with comparisons to previous year, as well as sell though & margins by brand. 

  • Monthly reporting based on logo position and sales from each area in the store

4. Visual Merchandising

  • Ensure the golf shop is visually appealing, clean, and well-organized

  • Implement seasonal displays and promotional setups

  • Maintain brand standards for all merchandise presentations

5. Golf Operations Support

  • Coordinate with golf operations team on tee times, events, and competitions

  • Support tournament and event merchandising requirements

  • Assist guests with bookings, rentals, and general golf-related inquiries

6. Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all resort policies and procedures

  • Ensure a safe and secure retail environment for staff and guests

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

  • 3+ years in a high-volume retail or hospitality supervisor role 

  • Positive and friendly attitude, cheerful and courteous demeanour.

  • Hospitality mindset: ability to deliver 5 star service consistently 

  • Commercial Acumen: understating of retail KPI’s such as Gross Profit, margin, stock turnover  and average transaction value. 

  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to resolve guest complaints professionally 

  • Experience with Lightspeed & OPERA systems is a significant advantage 

  • Good organisational skills.

  • Reliable and adaptable team player

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours.

  • Ability to remain calm whilst under pressure
