The Assistant Spa Manager is required to support the Spa Manager to ensure the smooth running of the department on a day-to-day basis. The Assistant Spa Manager will be a champion in providing guests with a luxury spa experience which exceeds expectations. Drive and lead the spa's operational and financial direction, ensuring complete viability and maximising all opportunities and resources. Work closely with the Spa Manager, establishing and maintaining marketing objectives, operating criteria, programming, budgeting, VIP guest visits, staff relations and training.
Ensure the smooth operation of the department and serve as Spa Manager on Duty during shift.
Responsible for the overall management and performance of the Spa in the absence of the Spa Manager.
Ensure high standards of professionalism, customer service and optimum financial performance from Associates at all times.
Assist the Spa Manager in preparing monthly financial and statistical reports for the Hotel Executive Committee, incorporating proposals and recommendations on Spa policy and operations, competition, occupancy and usage, market share, and achievement of targets.
Assist in managing and training Associates to achieve spa performance KPIs, linking results with sales and marketing activities.
Assist the Spa Manager in ensuring the spa's operations are in line with the budget.
Assist with the implementation of Spa marketing activities and planning an annual calendar of events and promotions with the Spa Manager.
Responsible for maintaining an effective stock control system, including stock rotation, inventory and placing orders to par level. Ensure par stock is appropriate to the business demands.
Provide leadership, direction and support to the employees at the Spa to develop a highly motivated team, who can deliver high standards of service in all areas.
Develop an annual training plan with spa supervisors and ensure that all employees are trained and developed to meet the needs of the business.
Ensure that good practice is applied to all issues concerning employees and ensure that all Hotel HR policies and procedures are followed.
Motivate, encourage and drive the team to maintain the correct level of professional and qualified personnel, overseeing all facilities and activities within the Spa.
Assist the Spa Manager with instigating progressive, professional and well-organised training and assessment of staff and conduct performance appraisals as required.
Create and maintain relations with spa guests and members through having an active presence in spa reception and other key guest areas.
Collate guest feedback received from hotel surveys and communicate with the team; tackle recurring issues. Create action and development plans for the team to strive for perfection.
Attend regular meetings and create strong relationships with key Hotel departments such as Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance.
Ensure that the spa is adequately staffed at all times.
Maintain an active treatment role within the Spa, delivering treatments for a minimum of one day per week, subject to business requirements, to support the smooth running of the Therapy Team and ensure consistent guest service standards.
Remain up to date with all relevant treatment protocols, procedures, products and new treatment launches, completing any required training and assessments to ensure treatments are delivered safely and to the required Spa and brand standards.
Responsible for Opening/Closing Procedures when on duty.
Set an example at all times in standards of professionalism, attitude and appearance as required from the staff.
Assist the Spa Manager in conducting regular Health and Safety reviews to ensure the spa meets legal requirements.
To be responsible for the health and safety of employees and guests in the Spa and adhere to guidelines and procedures outlined in the Health and Safety Manual.
