Position Purpose
The Golf Retail Assistant will be the first point of contact for customers, offering expert advice on golf equipment, apparel, and accessories, ensuring an exceptional shopping experience. You will assist in the shop's daily operations, from managing stock to handling transactions. You will also be adept at using the tee sheet system to make and manage golf bookings. This position is available April - September 2025.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide exceptional, knowledgeable, and friendly service to customers, offering assistance with product selection, answering inquiries, and offering golf-related advice
Demonstrate expertise in a variety of golf products, including balls, clothing, shoes, and accessories, helping customers make informed purchasing decisions
Drive sales by actively engaging customers, promoting store promotions, and upselling relevant products to enhance their golfing experience
Assist with stock organisation, restocking shelves, and managing inventory levels. Keep the shop tidy and ensure displays are neat and appealing
Operate the point-of-sale system, process transactions, and handle cash or card payments accurately and efficiently
Help maintain attractive product displays and ensure the shop is visually appealing to encourage customer engagement and sales
Work closely with the Golf Department team to ensure smooth daily operations, including opening and closing duties, stock rotation, and meeting sales targets
Build lasting relationships with regular customers, providing personalised service to encourage repeat business and customer loyalty
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS, JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Previous retail experience, preferably in sporting goods or a golf-related environment
Strong passion for golf with an understanding of the sport’s equipment and terminology
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team and independently
Friendly and approachable demeanour with a customer-first attitude along with strong organizational skills and good attention to detail
Basic math and cash-handling skills are required
