Description

Role Summary

A Line Cook at Vandelay Hospitality Group is responsible for providing the standard of remarkable experiences and exceptional hospitality to our guests. The Line Cook is responsible for menu recipe execution and proper plate presentation for immediate service to restaurant guests. The Line Cook ensures the correct preparation of all menu dishes in accordance with guest requests, portion control, temperature guidelines, and company time standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare our dishes from scratch following the recipe to produce consistent results

  • Know and comply with standard cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen practices

  • Cook a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment

  • Portion all products, follow recipes and always ensure the plate presentation is aesthetically pleasing

  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies

  • Follow safety and sanitation standards, make sure workstations stay clean and organized and follow all food handling standards

  • Adhere to food service safety and sanitation guidelines as required by State and Local Agencies

Requirements

  • 1+ years of cooking experience in an upscale or fine-dining high volume establishment

  • Positive attitude, a sense of responsibility and ownership of the position

  • Detail oriented with strong communication skills

  • Team oriented with a strong sense of punctuality and reliability

  • Basic understanding of recipe preparation, cooking and knife handling skills

  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures

  • Continuous reaching, bending, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds

  • Certified for food service as required by State and Local Agencies
