What you’ll do

As a Head Waiter at Vesper Bar, you will play a central role in orchestrating a seamless and elegant guest experience that reflects the distinctive character of one of London’s most refined bars. Your role will involve leading service at your station with precision, warmth, and genuine hospitality. In this role, you will:

  • Take responsibility for running a section of the bar floor, ensuring each guest is greeted, seated, served, and cared for to the highest standards.

  • Possess detailed menu knowledge, confidently guiding guests through food and drink offerings and providing thoughtful recommendations.

  • Support the management team with order taking, billing, and closing procedures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency at every step.

  • Anticipate guest needs and respond with intuitive service, making adjustments for special requests, dietary needs, or celebratory occasions.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the floor, bar, and kitchen to ensure smooth service flow and maintain our signature attention to detail.

  • Maintain a poised and professional presence during busy periods and calmly manage any guest feedback or service challenges that arise.

You will be a key figure in creating a service experience that is stylish, personalised, and completely memorable - a true hallmark of The Dorchester.

What you'll bring 

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience as a Head Waiter or Senior Waiter in a luxury hospitality, high-end bar, or fine dining setting.

  • Strong understanding of guest-facing service standards, from elegant greetings to precision billing.

  • Confident communicator with an ability to engage with guests warmly and professionally.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Fluent in English, with strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and billing protocols in high-end hospitality venues.

  • Passion for food and beverages with an ability to articulate ingredients, preparation methods, and pairings.

  • Experience supporting management in training, mentoring, or shift supervision.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a calm, solutions-focused approach during high-pressure situations.
