Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for an experienced Construction Manager to take ownership of the delivery of our new restaurant openings across the UK & Ireland, with a particular focus on our growing estate across the North.

This is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to get things built. You’ll manage projects from pre-construction through to handover, making sure every site is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the standards our brand expects.

The role will primarily cover our North region, so we’re ideally looking for someone based in the Midlands or further North. Locations such as Nottingham, Sheffield, Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, Leeds or York could work particularly well, although we’re open on location for the right person. The role will involve frequent travel across the UK & Ireland, with regular site visits required.

You’ll work closely with our Property, Design, Operations, Food Safety and Supply Chain teams, as well as landlords, contractors, consultants and other external partners. With an ambitious new restaurant pipeline, you’ll play a key role in helping Wingstop continue to grow at pace.

The role is ideally suited to someone with experience delivering high-volume, multi-site fit-out programmes within QSR, hospitality, retail or leisure.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end construction and fit-out of new Wingstop restaurants across the UK & Ireland, from pre-construction through to practical completion and handover.

• Develop and manage detailed project programmes, ensuring key milestones are understood, tracked and delivered.

• Manage landlord approvals, including licences for alterations and engagement with landlord teams throughout the project lifecycle.

• Coordinate Building Control, Approved Inspectors, Fire Officers, EHO and other relevant regulatory bodies to secure the necessary approvals and consents.

• Ensure all projects comply with Building Regulations, Planning, Fire Safety, Health & Safety and other relevant statutory requirements.

• Coordinate internal review and sign-off of construction drawings and plans across Property, Design, Operations, Food Safety and other key stakeholders.

• Manage project budgets from tender through to completion, including contractor procurement, negotiation, cost control, change management and value engineering.

• Tender, appoint and manage contractors, consultants and other external partners, ensuring strong commercial and delivery performance.

• Carry out regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, programme, costs and compliance, taking action where issues arise.

• Ensure all new restaurants are delivered consistently to Wingstop’s design, build and brand standards.

• Build and maintain strong relationships across our contractor and consultant network, helping to establish and develop a reliable supply chain.

• Provide clear and accurate project reporting, highlighting progress, risks, issues, costs and key decisions to the Head of Construction and wider leadership team.

• Work collaboratively with Property, Design, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing and other internal teams to ensure a smooth journey from acquisition through to opening.

• Identify opportunities to improve construction processes, reduce costs, shorten delivery times and improve the quality and consistency of our openings.

• Support the integration of sustainable construction practices and innovation across our development programme.

• Be prepared to get into the detail, solve problems on the ground and take ownership when things don’t go to plan.

Skills and Experience

We want to hear from experienced construction or project management professionals who have a strong track record of delivering new sites and fit-outs in fast-paced, multi-site environments.

Essential

• Ideally 5+ years’ experience as a Construction Manager, Project Manager or similar role delivering new site openings or major fit-out projects.

• Experience within QSR, hospitality, retail, leisure or another relevant multi-site environment.

• Strong technical understanding of construction, fit-out, M&E and the wider project delivery process.

• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, Fire Safety, Health & Safety and other relevant statutory requirements.

• Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously across different regions.

• Proven experience managing project budgets, including tendering, contractor appointment, cost control and change management.

• Experience managing contractors, consultants and wider construction supply chains.

• Experience managing landlord approvals and working with landlord teams would be highly beneficial.

• Strong programme and project management skills, with experience identifying and managing project risks.

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the UK & Ireland.

Desirable (Nice to Have)

• Experience delivering a high-volume rollout programme for a growing consumer-facing brand.

• Previous experience within QSR or restaurant development.

• Experience working with landlord approval processes and licences for alterations.

• Relevant construction or project management qualifications.

• Experience incorporating sustainability or ESG considerations into construction projects.

• Experience developing preferred contractor or consultant networks.
