Position Summary

Eagle Golf Club is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and safety-conscious Groundskeeper to join our golf course maintenance team in Gilroy, CA. The Groundskeeper is responsible for helping maintain the appearance, condition, cleanliness, and playability of the golf course and surrounding grounds.

This is a hands-on, physically active outdoor position. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining attractive grounds, works well as part of a team, and can safely perform a variety of landscaping and golf course maintenance duties.

Previous landscaping, groundskeeping, golf course maintenance, or similar experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to provide on-the-job training to candidates who demonstrate a positive attitude, dependability, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain golf course grounds, landscaped areas, and surrounding property.
  • Mow greens, fairways, rough areas, tees, and other designated areas using appropriate equipment.
  • Trim, edge, weed, rake, and perform general landscape maintenance.
  • Maintain bunkers, including raking and redistributing sand as needed.
  • Assist with course setup, including moving tee markers, servicing ball washers, changing cups and flags, and other course-related tasks.
  • Remove leaves, branches, trash, debris, and other materials from the golf course and property.
  • Assist with planting, watering, fertilizing, seeding, and general turf care as directed.
  • Assist with irrigation-related tasks and report damaged sprinklers, leaks, dry areas, or other turf concerns to a supervisor.
  • Operate golf carts, utility vehicles, mowers, blowers, trimmers, and other grounds maintenance equipment as assigned and when properly trained.
  • Clean, inspect, and properly store tools and equipment after use.
  • Report equipment problems, unsafe conditions, property damage, or maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
  • Help maintain work areas, maintenance facilities, and storage areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Work cooperatively with other grounds and golf course employees to complete daily assignments.
  • Maintain awareness of golfers, employees, guests, vehicles, and equipment while performing work on the course.
  • Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with members, guests, coworkers, and management.
  • Perform other groundskeeping and maintenance duties as assigned based on business needs.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, turf maintenance, golf course maintenance, or similar outdoor work experience is preferred but not required.
  • On-site training may be provided for qualified candidates.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a clean/acceptable DMV driving record appropriate for operating company vehicles or equipment, as required by the position.
  • Ability to safely operate groundskeeping equipment after receiving appropriate training.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to report to scheduled shifts consistently.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail and pride in maintaining the appearance and condition of the golf course.
  • Must follow all safety rules, procedures, and equipment operating guidelines.
  • Must be available to work five days per week, with scheduling based on business needs.
  • Availability for early mornings, weekends, and holidays may be required depending on golf course operations and business needs.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding outdoor position. Employees must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

The position may require:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods during a shift.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
  • Regular use of hands and arms to operate tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Lifting, carrying, moving, loading, and unloading tools, materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 50 pounds as required for assigned duties.
  • Walking and working on grass, slopes, hills, uneven terrain, wet surfaces, and other outdoor areas.
  • Working outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, sun, rain, and damp conditions.
  • Exposure to dust, dirt, grass, pollen, insects, fertilizers, landscaping materials, noise, and equipment typically associated with golf course maintenance.
  • Working around moving maintenance equipment, golf carts, and golfers.
  • Performing repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment when required.

Schedule and Availability

This is a full-time position working five days per week. Work schedules are established according to golf course operations and business needs.

Golf course maintenance often begins early in the day to prepare the course before or around scheduled play. Candidates should therefore have flexible availability and understand that schedules may include early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Regular and reliable attendance is an essential requirement of the position.

Compensation

$18.50 per hour
