Payroll Manager


Description
The incoming Payroll Manager will report to the Director of Human Resources and be charged with establishing a well-controlled payroll process and executing our bi-weekly payroll for 750 hourly and salaried employees.

Responsibilities include:

• Liaising with the third-party payroll processor (i.e., ADP Workforce Now) to ensure the timely and accurate processing of a US multi-state payroll.
• Collaborate with HR and ADP to accurately track leaves of absence, PTO, FMLA, benefits enrollment and administration, HRIS (incl. manager/employee self-service) and time and attendance.
• Establishing and maintaining payroll-related activities such as paid time off accruals & balances, holiday pay, garnishments, and manual check calculations.
• Reviewing and approving the daily tips reconciliation for all locations utilizing the Gratuity Solutions tip distribution system.
• Reviewing payroll related transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness of data, interface management & reconciliation of data.
• Responsible for annual reporting and allocations for Workers Compensation data.
• Provides support on integration projects as needed.
• Understands payroll strategies, pay on separation requirements by states, and delivers recommendations for improving overall payroll processing.
• Review and resolve payroll discrepancies and/or employee questions timely and accurately; take appropriate actions to mitigate future issues from arising.
• Leads and supports all payroll projects and initiatives directed by management.
• Review month-end, quarter-end & year-end payroll data and tax filings, and provide analysis of variances to budget and prior periods.
• Serving as a resource to restaurant management and all employees on payroll-related matters. Provide them with an understanding of the payroll process as well as assisting with employee questions regarding compensation and tip payouts.
• Processing data changes, including new hires, promotions, transfers and terminations.
• Providing expertise on payroll regulations, including US federal, state wage/hour regulations (FLSA), and best practices.
• Providing support for compliance requirements that have a direct effect on payroll processing.
• Maintaining and adhering to internal controls and reporting related to payroll transactions.
• Provide support to the Finance and Accounting teams; assist with resolving open items and variances.

Other Important Qualifications Include

Prospective candidates should possess strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processing and have familiarity with various payroll systems. S/he must also be highly proficient with Excel and capable of preparing and executing reporting to management.

• Excellent written/oral communication skills and ability to interact with personnel at various levels.
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to exercise tact and discretion in the handling of confidential material.
• Great attention to detail, works accurately and quickly



• Must have customer service orientation and ability to respond quickly and appropriately to inquiries from all levels.
• Excellent management, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• High proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, Queries, etc.)
• Strong Analytical knowledge
• Expert level experience with ADP Workforce Now
• Micros/Aloha knowledge desired
• Ability to effectively present information to top management and/or public groups
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to translate business needs and policies into well-designed processes. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills required

Education And Experience

• Advanced educational degree or equivalent work experience; education concentration in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields is preferred.
• 7+ years of progressively increasing responsible experience in corporate Payroll or Human Resource Information systems management or Human Resource operations management including data, platform, and systems management
• Undergraduate degree required.
• CPP preferred
• Hospitality industry experience preferred
