Description

Yellowstone Club's Development team is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their team.

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for performing routine maintenance checks on diesel, fuel, brake, and transmission systems to ensure peak performance, safety, and longevity of the equipment.  Analyze malfunctions and make necessary repairs to Yellowstone Club vehicles and equipment.

  • Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position; possible on call duties may be required in times of emergency.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze malfunctions and repair, rebuild, and maintain equipment, such as, snowplows, bulldozers, excavators, motor graders, and heavy-duty trucks, high pressure pumps, cranes, skid steers, backhoes, trailers, man lifts;
  • Productive diagnosis, repair and replacement of general automotive parts and accessories.  Repair may include brake jobs, alignments, suspension, belts, hoses, and other jobs assigned by the Fleet Manager;
  • Maintain Preventive Maintenance Schedule; and maintains detailed records of each repair or maintenance occurrence.
  • Exercises practical knowledge of equipment maintenance and other associated trades, including tools used; and utilizes own tools to be housed in own toolbox at shop.
  • Maintains a safe, clean work area at all times
  •  Informs Fleet Manager promptly of all concerns in the work place.
  • Can exercise considerable independent judgment, in making decisions without the availability of supervision.
  • Diagnoses, services and repairs various systems that are found on each piece of equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions, propane powered equipment and pneumatic systems.
  • Can troubleshoot malfunctions in a proper fashion.
  •  Performs routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches.  Changes filters and oil, and lubricates vehicles and motor driven equipment.
  • Chain installation on equipment and repair of broken components.
  • Services, diagnoses, repairs and maintains speed tandem drive axles with air or electronic shift, hydrostatic driven, heady duty multi-axle suspensions, both conventional steel or air springs
  • Diagnoses problems, disassembles units, repairs or replaces parts, and reassembles units : cooling, drive, electrical, exhaust, heating and air conditioning, hydraulic, air, steering and suspension, and coupling devices.
  • Maintains service logs and records of all maintenance and motorized equipment, using fleet management software
  • Prepares work orders and cost estimates.
  •  Road test vehicles and equipment.

 ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  •  Assist fueling of all heavy and industrial equipment
  • Weld broken parts and structural members
  • Fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings
  •  Field work on automobiles, buses, trucks, industrial vehicles and equipment
  •  Keeps shop and tools in a clean and safe working condition
  • Conducts self in a manner projecting a positive and favorable image to the company; and have a customer service mentality.
  •  Provide follow through and communication as the repair process is being conducted.
  • Develop routine maintenance schedule for each piece of equipment that is well documented.
  • Provide cost analysis job tracking.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Properly lifting 50 pounds repeatedly, excellent driving record.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with the ability to perform service functions.
  • High school diploma, GED or vocational training or job-related course work required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Heavy Equipment Repair and Operations Certificate a plus.
  • ASE Certification a plus.
