The Role

As Finance Assistant at YOTEL Edinburgh, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel. You’ll ensure accurate processing of financial transactions, assist with month-end tasks, and maintain efficient financial systems in line with company policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate posting of invoices and payments.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, and other financial records.
  • Maintain and update financial records, spreadsheets, and documentation.
  • Support daily revenue audit and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Assist with payroll processing and staff expense claims where required.
  • Help prepare monthly and year-end reports and reconciliations.
  • Liaise with department managers regarding financial queries and compliance.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold data protection and financial integrity standards.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the finance department.

Personal Attributes

  • Highly organised and detail oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g., Sage, Xero, Opera – as relevant).
  • Strong numerical skills and accuracy in data handling.
  • Proactive, with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in a finance role, preferably within hospitality.
  • Familiarity with hotel PMS and POS systems.
  • Knowledge of UK financial regulations and VAT.
