Senior bar floor responsibility at Scotland's biggest events.
Apex Bars & Events is hiring Assistant Event Managers (AEMs) for the 2026 festive season. The AEM is the right hand of the Event Manager: supervising multiple bars and Team Leaders within an event, deputising as needed, and stepping up to run smaller events independently.
This is a senior operational role with real licensing and commercial accountability.
The role
• Support the Event Manager through the full event cycle: planning, set-up, trading, break-down, reconciliation
• Supervise multiple bars and the Team Leaders running them
• Act as Designated Premises Manager (DPM) where required by the licence
• Lead on-shift response to serious incidents, including aggressive customers and safeguarding concerns
• Oversee cash reconciliation across multiple bars
• Be a credible, calm, senior Apex presence with venue staff, Police and Licensing Standards
• Deputise for the Event Manager and run smaller events independently
What we offer
• £15 to £16 per hour (depending on experience and event), plus 12.07% rolled-up holiday pay
• Funded First Aid at Work and IOSH training where not already held
• Structured progression to Event Manager
• Pension, sick pay, expenses paid
• Real seniority and accountability in a small, ambitious company at the start of something good
What we're looking for
• SCPLH personal licence (or willingness to obtain within first three months; Apex funds)
• Significant licensed hospitality experience including team leadership at bar or shift level
• Strong working knowledge of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, Challenge 25 and DPM duties
• Strong cash handling and reconciliation experience
• Calm authority: handles aggression, complaints and incidents without escalation
• Good communicator, written and verbal
• Right to work in the UK, 18+, available for evenings, weekends, multi-day events and summer peaks
• Outdoor events experience, cellar / gas safety knowledge, First Aid at Work, IOSH, food hygiene and a driving licence are all desirable
How to apply
Send us a short message telling us about yourself, any relevant experience (or none, that's fine too), and which events most appeal to you. Include your contact details and your right-to-work confirmation.
