What You’ll Be Doing
As a Kitchen Porter, you’ll be a key part of the kitchen team, supporting chefs and wider operations by ensuring all kitchen and back-of-house areas are clean, safe, and efficient. You’ll play a vital role in keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes – from washing up to helping receive deliveries.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that requires strong attention to detail, good time management, and a team-focused attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Wash crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and utensils to a high standard
Keep kitchen and wash-up areas clean, tidy, and organised
Ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned, maintained, and ready for use
Support the goods-in process: check deliveries, record temperatures, and store food hygienically
Maintain clean and organised food and equipment storage areas
Follow cleaning schedules and COSHH safety guidelines
Safely handle and dispose of rubbish; keep bin areas clean and compacted
Sweep/mop floors, wipe walls and surfaces, and reset areas for the next service
Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by management
Key Attributes
Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks
Excellent attention to detail with high cleanliness standards
Works well under pressure and at speed
Understanding of food hygiene and COSHH regulations
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
Positive attitude and a strong team player
Flexible and willing to support across multiple catering operations
