Bluestone Lane is influenced from the renowned coffee culture hub of Melbourne, Australia where premium coffee is a way of life. Founded in New York City in 2013, we see coffee and food as a way of creating an environment in which customers are immersed in the experience and leave feeling like one of our regular locals. Bluestone Lane seeks to make a difference to our locals’ daily ritual, every day. We roast our own Rainforest Alliance coffee beans in DUMBO, Brooklyn and our food menu is fresh, seasonal and delicious. We are all about the experience at Bluestone Lane. Our locals are everything to us and we are dedicated to giving them the best coffee, food and service in the business.

We are looking for new team members to join the Bluestone Lane family who uphold our passion for hospitality and can help us share our love of premium coffee and delicious food.

The Prep/Line Cook is responsible for prepping, cooking and assembling a variety of food products and meals, complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and following established food production processes and procedures.

WE TRUST OUR PREP/LINE COOKS TO
>Understands and consistently complies with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen processes and procedures
>Prepares, cooks and assembles all food correctly, following standard recipes and special diet orders as required
>Uses standard Bluestone Lane recipes for preparation and portioning of all products
>Stores food properly and safely, marking the date and item
>Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food are preserved
>Reports equipment and food quality problems or product shortages to Kitchen Manager in a timely manner
>Maintains a clean and hygienic work station area including but not limited to; tables, shelves, walls, grills, broilers, fryers, ovens, cooktops and refrigeration equipment
>Closes the kitchen properly and follows closing procedure for kitchen stations

TO BE CONSIDERED, YOU WILL POSSESS
>Minimum two years’ prep/line cook experience, preferably in a high-volume cafe environment
>Accreditation with Department of Health for Food Protection Certificate
>Ability to work in high-pressure environments
>Attention to detail
>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
