Roasting & Production Assistant
Description
The Roasting and Production Assistant will learn the craft of roasting coffee alongside Head Roaster at our Roastery location in Downtown Brooklyn, NY. This position will also be responsible for receiving, production and shipping departments to ensure orders are flowing through on time and following BL Standard Operational Procedures. Responsible for organizing and scheduling of orders within the roastery fulfillment team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
ROASTING:
● Work & learn alongside Head Roaster to study the craft of roasting coffee.
● Assists with roasting profile development. Recommends and drives changes to roasting profiles to improve quality. Heavy interaction with Head Roaster to continuously improve recipes.
● Support roasting with meticulous log note taking to accurately detail batch history and roast metrics.
● Cup batches regularly to strengthen & develop palate.
● Inventory management of roasting operation supplies including green and roasted beans and packaging supplies.
PRODUCTION:
● Work closely with the Wholesale Fulfillment Manager and Roastery Team to fulfill and expedite daily and weekly orders to internal, external and E-commerce customers.
● Help provide direction to production team members to improve daily output and efficiencies.
● Monitor E-commerce platform daily.
● Package, label and box coffee.
● Receive deliveries and store in a safe, efficient and appropriate manner.
● Assist in inventory counts, restocking green coffee, bags, boxes and assist in ordering all materials needed on a daily basis.
● Help maintain a clean work environment.

● Respect and love for coffee, with desire to learn and develop in this industry
PREFERRED SKILLS:
● Some CRM and invoicing exposure, Inventory management and the use of Microsoft Office and or Google gSuite.
● Knowledge and practical understanding of the functions of roasting equipment
● Meticulous attention to detail skills required
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Ability to work Full-time, 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, with very occasional overtime and flexibility as the job demands.
• Ability to work seated, standing stationary or moving for long periods.
• Must be a team player with strong attention to detail, initiative and levels of organization.
