About us:

The Boathouse is a modern 3-floor pub, situated in the heart of Putney with picturesque views of Putney Bridge. It has a multitude of spaces, both indoors and out. A pub that suits all and welcomes all. This beautiful pub is perfect for any occasion. We specialise in events and sophisticated British pub food. Easily accessible from Putney Bridge station and East Putney Underground.


What we offer our Junior Sous Chefs:

  • Access to our Sous Chef - Head Chef development Programme: the majority of our head chefs are internal appointments

What we look for in a Junior Sous Chef:


We at The Boathouse are an events driven riverside establishment that focuses on seasonal pub food with a sophisticated twist and flair. As such, we're looking for someone with experience handling a variety of fresh and seasonal produce, meats and fish and who is not afraid to jump straight into an unknown recipe and give it a good go under direction.

Our Head Chef Jamie embodies the value "Everything on our menu should be made by us." This includes pies, desserts & pastry, wellingtons, sauces, breads etc. We take great pride in our ability to do this and understand the value this adds to our food offering and the business as a whole. Someone who shares our proud attitude towards their food will do very well with us.

We are looking for an existing Junior Sous Chef or Chef de Partie that wants to make the next step up, who has a passion and flair for producing quality fresh food in an environment that makes people feel welcome. As the successful Junior Sous Chef you will:

  • Have experience championing excellent service through quality food
  • Demonstrate a drive to succeed and progress
  • Be an active hands-on Chef with excellent communication skills
  • Be responsible and able to manage the day to day and weekly due dilligence
  • Working alongside your Head Chef, you will be able to demonstrate your creativity and ability by helping to design and deliver new dishes for our seasonal menus and daily specials.
  • Have a pro-active approach to driving sales and delivering growth, through engagement with both kitchen and front of house teams
  • Show your can-do attitude and focus on ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved.
