 The Role

The Café Manager will oversee the daily running of our café, ensuring smooth, efficient, and profitable operations. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional organisational skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding service. You will manage stock, budgets, staffing, and menu development, while also preparing to launch an evening service and strengthen our appeal to local customers. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, particularly during peak seasonal periods with high visitor volume.

Responsibilities include

Operational & Financial Management

  • Manage full stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, cost controls, and financial performance.
  • Create and manage staff rotas to ensure efficient coverage across varying seasonal demands.
  • Maintain rigorous food safety, hygiene, and compliance standards at all times.

Menu & Service Development

  • Design and deliver creative, seasonal menus that reflect local produce and customer demand.
  • Lead the launch of an evening service, taking responsibility for planning, and execution.
  • Continually assess café performance and introduce improvements to enhance the guest experience.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Recruit, train, and inspire a high-performing team.
  • Set clear standards around discipline, reliability, and excellent customer service.
  • Ensure strong communication and a positive team culture within a fast-paced environment.

Customer Experience & Brand Building

  • Create a welcoming atmosphere that delights visitors and encourages repeat trade from locals.
  • Champion impeccable service standards and ensure consistency across all touchpoints.
  • Build the café’s reputation as a stand-out food destination within the museum and the wider community
